Here are a few pics of my alpines. I do love them so as they are so delicate, yet will grow in the barest of soils and conditions.
Every year they keep on coming back better than before. This plant wasn’t even ‘planted’ by me in this spot, it just sort of appeared a couple of years back and has grown ever since. I do have it elsewhere in the garden behind a fence, so this really does travel. Still, I do not mind as they are so pretty and no bother.

I went organic at the weekend. Not on the plot I hasten to add – though I am as organic as I can be – but visited an organic garden and marvelled at the effort they have put into making a wonderful spectacle.

I planted these seeds last week as well. They are all good seeds for me and I usually get produce from every one. The lettuce are not tight hearts which makes them great shredded for salads.
If you pick the cauliflower early you get small sweet heads, but I am inclined to leave them until they are bigger to get a stronger flavour.

This is me planting out the peas last week. As you can see they are the Kelvedon Wonder variety. They should be coming up in the next week or two and I will show you then how they look.

Talking of bees the other day. Here is one that was in my garden looking for a suitable place to settle and get warm as it’s not been hot of late and they are out and about.
I love the gossamer look to the wings and the wrap around shades for eyes.

I have gone and done it and planted peas this year. I am not trusting them to the soil as mice ate them last year. I have a cunning plan this year……..

Some of the other plots are much better kept than mine I guess. However, I do have a job and so cant spend the time up there all day every day that most of the others do.
I do see the need to rotavate though and so I will next year. Though to be honest I did last year and it still went right back to being claggy.

My fruit bushes are coming on too. Still not very high as yet, but they have taken good root and are flourishing in the top corner of the plot.

The comfry is coming on nicely. It’s another plant that bees like, so I am hopeful of attracting them to my plot. Last year the allotment association chopped it down thinking it was a weed when they were tidying up the paths between plots. I mean, you’d think they would know it is great green manure and bees love it.
